Our Services – What We Do
Home-Start Leith & North East Edinburgh (HSLNEE) has been helping families and providing training and opportunities for volunteers in the local area since 1986.
The experience and knowledge gained over the years has made HSLNEE a responsive, hard-working group of personnel committed to strengthening the family whatever its shape or size. During 2017-18 a total of 153 children and 87 families were supported by HSLNEE with referrals from various sources including health visitors, social workers and self-referral.
HSLNEE is funded by the City of Edinburgh Council and benefits from the support of a range of companies, trusts, churches and schools, which is always greatly appreciated.
As well as being part of the UK’s leading family support charity, it is an organisation valued and trusted by local families and professionals alike.
42 volunteers supported the scheme from 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2018.
Volunteers undertake many different tasks in order to support, help and manage the scheme.
Home visiting volunteers (volunteers are parents or have parenting experience)
- Crèche Assistants
HSLNEE run weekly groups in Leith to complement the core home visiting service: parents can also attend the Parents Early Education Partnership (Peep) Groups and Baby Massage classes.
